ATOMIK PICTURES

Cosmote - Los Angeles, California
When you put an army of soldiers, ninjas, rockers, and cheerleaders together in the middle of nowhere in the California desert, you get a film about Cosmote's new video game service for their cellular network in Greece. Director Charley Stadler made his third film with Atomik Pictures this year. This time, he brought along Foss Productions from Athens to take advantage of Los Angeles' unique desert location, the wide array of talent that the city has to offer. Charley's vision for shooting this commercial was helped along by our dedicated and creative crew. The art department sourced tanks, flat bed trucks, military props, and costumes to create the different groups that represent each of the games that Cosmote has to offer. Watch it now.
Nescafe - Los Angeles, California
Tokyo's AOI Promotions called upon Atomik to service their new commercial for Nescafe's Charge coffee refills. Using a look-alike of Albert Einstein, this comedic spot shows the late scientist in his laboratory admiring the innovation and ease of use of the product. Casting a dead ringer of Albert Einstein and building a replica of his office, Atomik was able to offer its services to the Japanese market for the first time. The accompanying photo-shoot is a re-creation of Albert's famous tongue-out photo which prominently features the product.
Parle - Sweets with a twist - Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria
Sweets so light they get Sumo wrestlers pirouetting around a ballet studio. So minty the smell of a passing one chewed gives Zoo Penguins and Polar bears a flashbacks to their previous life in the snow, bringing a tear to their eyes. The second shoot this year with Chrome Pictures, Mumbai, SA is a cost effective and high production value solution to India's no filming with animals policy. Sumos from Brazil, flying rigs in Cape Town and Penguins and Polar bears in the Pretoria zoo gave us some great winter fun.
Winterfresh - STREET WAR TURNS LOVE FEST - Johannesburg
Its rare these days on service commercials we get play out childrens imaginations of frozen worlds. Where as adults we get to create a life size fantasy world and play with all the toys for a few days! Jonnie Ross (Smuggler LA) transformed a city into a frozen world where 4 gangs go to war. Johannesburg was chosen over Bogota and Los Angeles for its great city look, and the ease to shut down city streets for 3 days. Amazing casting and styling created gangs of "nerds", "athletes", "suits" and "goths" going to war in a frozen city intersection. Armed with a Winterfresh gum the "street war" turns to a love fest (square scene in "Perfume").
BLAXPLOITATION IRISH STYLE
Rocket Productions from Dublin, IR and director Charley Stadler decided that LA should be the place to shoot "Quench," an orgy of 70's-style blaxploitation scenarios. LA's gritty back alleys, abandoned warehouses, and rooftops served as the perfect location for this trip back to a time when hair was plenty and it was okay if your clothes matched your wall paper. With great material to work from, our casting director was able to pull together a great cast that showcased a wide range of talent.. 70's era clothing, cars, wigs, and facial hair are in abundance and our art and beauty departments had a great time playing with the era's unique style. The commercial has received a lot of acclaim in Ireland and is poised to help grow the brand. Watch it now.
FROM NY TO LA TO BOSTON WITH THE BSkyB MAFIA
When Sky Movies needs to do a special on the American Mafia, it seems logical that they would call Atomik... Providing support to the talking head interviews featuring Martin Scorcese, Elliot Gould, Henry Hill, Robert Loggia, and more, BSkyB and Atomik criss-crossed the county getting to the next interview. Over the course of 4 shooting days we shot close to 15 interviews and still had enough time to get some nice cutaways. The actors, directors, writers, and ex-gangsters that we spoke with were more than happy to talk about the real mafia and how it's seeped into the collective conscience via film.
VALBONE - THE BIG CHEESE - NOORDHOEK, CAPE TOWN
Over 400 scrumptious Camemberts were harmed in the making of this commercial! Lukasz Zadrinynski of Opus Film, Warsaw created a summer party heaven in this cheese commercial in the Idyllic setting of a Noordhoek farm, appearing to be a Polish country estate... Never before have we witnessed models happy to do 30 takes eating the real product!
BETTERPLACE.ORG - EXPERIENCE GIVING - CAPE TOWN
A beautiful charity campaign for betterplace.org by director Amanda Evans and DOP Mannie Ferreira. The story of a little boy in an African township watching other children going to school with longing. He wakes in his shack to find a French lady fitting him with school shoes, a Spanish man jumps out the closet with a uniform, a young German girl waits at the breakfast table with pens and so on his journey people from around the world support him to got to school and "reach for the stars".

King Arthur's Court Meets Versailles in LA
Hamburg-based Bakery Films and director Bruce St. Clair, brought Chevy home to America for their European ad campaign featuring the Captiva destroying some perfectly manicured lawns, bushes, and tents. Atomik's art department had to literally dig a hole in the Earth to create a moat, import greenery to make the topiaries, and plant grass on a ranch about 25 miles from Downtown Los Angeles. The action centers on a merry mix of King Arthur's court and the Palace of Versailles and their patrons enjoying a nice sunny day. Suddenly, thanks to the special effects wizardry of our crew, a Captiva drops from the sky and ruins the afternoon tea party. When the film cuts, we see that this is a fantasy world that corresponds to a backyard battle between a boy and his sister as his remote controlled captiva breaks up her tea party. Watch it now.
Featured Location: Coney Island, NYC.
When Papaya Films from Warsaw needed to use the famous New York City amusement park as a backdrop for the new campaign for CCC's fall shoe collection, they called on Atomik to provide the necessary support. Drawing on New York's diverse talent pool and hard-working crews, we were able to create a beautiful film that shows a young family enjoying their day at this amusement park by the sea. It was a great opportunity to shoot at this landmark before most of it gets torn down over the next few years to make way for a modern amusement park with newer stores, condominiums, and an updated roller coaster that is going to weave in and out of the new construction. Featured Location: Western Towns, Los Angels
LA is home to many standing sets. Often these are built for TV shows or Films and left as they are so that other productions can use them. Within LA, there are no less than 5 such sets for Western Towns. These studios operate much like a sound stage, making them a one-stop shop for your location, props, and costumes. Some locations even have horses and animal trainers. For your next shoot that involves the old American west, give it a try! Look at it here.
Featured Location: Sepulveda Dam, Los Angeles
The dam was constructed in the early 1940's to control the flow of water into the LA River. Since it is owned by the state of California, it is easily accessible to film crews for commercials, films, and TV shows. It served as an important location in such films as the Italian Job, Chinatown, the TV Show '24' and countless commercials. Its best used as a place for car stunts, chase scenes or as an area of urban blight. Look at it here.
Featured Location: Desert Race Tracks, Phoenix Arizona
The open terrain of Phoenix AZ presents several 'secret proving grounds' for testing new cars, with car makers including GM, Ford and VW having taken advantage of these tracks for many years. Located withing close proximity to Phoenix, these wide roadways -- which double as racetracks for filming -- offer flexible opportunities, without the necessity of crew travel to a remote location.
